It starts...

For the rest of my posts, since internet will be scarce, I will be condensing entries from the journals I am hand writing each night. Thanks everyone for the journals ;)

Night One:
I decided to call this night one because it's my first official day with absolutely no familiar faces. No family, no friends, no fluff. As Myra Morgan at UF said "literally everyone I will encounter for the next 2 years will be a stranger."

So Night One:
My head was pounding all day from the moment I got on the plane. Killed time in the airport with mom and dad having breakfast and misread my ticket. Slowly walked to gate 30A only to realize that this was my seat #. Ran like crazy to the train and got to GATE B28 SEAT 30A just about 5 min before they closed the door.

Met several PCVs (Peace Corp Volunteers) already. Matt my hotel roomie, Kim, Elyse, Vanessa... I wonder how many of these names will become frequent entries in my journal.

...hopefully my handwriting will improve in 2 years...

Meetings start tomorrow, opportunity to make more friends out of strangers.

P.S. being on this medication and only being able to drink 1 beer/night blows... saves $ though...

Night Two:
6 Forms, 2 passports, 5 hours of training, and one beer later, I'm now a Peace Corps Trainee (Upgrade from PC invitee).

I'm finally letting myself get excited. I know I told you all "I'm totally pumped!!". But secretly I was expecting something to come up and keep me from going. But it's here. Tomorrow I'm flying out. I'll let you know how it goes.

Goodbye US. Later Cici's buffet. No more 24 hr Taco Bell. $5 all you can drink at Grogg... Everything is going to be different. I can't wait.

Till then,

-g
