6/21

My family's dog and cat. I'm pretty sure Edison would have acted the same way >:)

Sitting in my room at homestay. My mosquito net above me, my maps on the wall, and my uruguayan flag hanging by the door. The old oscillating fan (which no longer oscillates) is blowing my way and helping to cool the humid african night. The crickets are singing outside and I figure this is as good of a time as any to write.

Last night we went back to the local spot. Hannah and I took back our throne running a 3 game streak (keep in mind we go out and come back really early...) before 2 new ghanaians ousted us. Damn these guys are naturals...

This morning I slept in really late (7:30 am) which reminds me, holy wow this country starts early. The people wake up with the roosters and by 4 am I can hear my homestay mom up and about the house. Its strange, I'm adapting very well to this schedule. Im asleep by 10pm every night, and up at 5:30 with no problem at all. I think its easier to wake up crazy early here because your body slowly hears the world waking up around you. The roosters start competing for loudest, most desperate crow. The goats start their brainless "yehhhh" noises. People start chatting and birds start calling. Oh and btw a note on roosters and goats.. OMFG they NEVER stop. ALLL DAY LONG. It's impressive, and hasnt gotten too annoying yet. But this gradual wakeup makes for a very peaceful early rise. Today at 7:30 I felt like I do at 2pm in the states where you go "any more sleep would just be gluttonous."

So I had Ampasi again tonight (delicious) and I watched my house mom make it so I can do it when I move. We met the chief today, but my hand hurts from writing so that story will have to wait until tomorrow.
