Birthday! (1/24/2010)

So the 24th was my Bday (thank you all for the Birth-Day wishes). And a special thank you to "Favorite Aunt Patty" for remembering my birthday. Of all my aunts named Patty you are now also my favorite as well.

Mom's package arrived just in time for my Bday so I was able to enjoy candy and new episodes of 30 Rock. (By the way mom, everyone here is LOVING the new 30 Rock, I've seen the episodes u sent me at least 3 times each.)

And keeping with our little tradition the other 2 musketeers (Beth calls us the 3 musketeers) came to my site to celebrate with me. We hung out, watched 30 Rock, jammed on the guitar.. it was a very chill very nice way to welcome myself into being a quarter of a century old (ugh.)

The morning of my birthday I decided I was tired of sitting inside and so I walked Beth and Julie to my new/old tree. They took one look and decided they wouldn't be able to get into it. So I jumped up, and helped pull Julie up while Beth pushed from below. Then jumped back down and helped push Beth up while Julie pulled from inside the tree. Beth used me as a step-stool, first stepping on my knee, then my shoulder, then my back and neck. We looked ridiculous and the 3 of us were laughing the whole time. (Then when I finally climbed back up to join them my sunglasses fell, so I had to repeat one more time.) No joke my muscles were sore for an entire week...

Once we were up there, however, we brought out Beth's iPod and the mini computer speakers that mom sent in my package, we each picked a comfortable limb to lay in, and just chilled and listened to music for quite a while.

It was amazing. It's so great to be able to do things like that here. Beth made an observation that I had been thinking for a while, and it's great that I'm not alone in the sentiment. She said something to the effect of "It's awesome that we can just hang out in a tree with some friends like we're little kids, and it's totally OK." And the thing is, yes, back home you could find SOME time to do it as well... but mentally you (at least I did) block out your free time for more "adult" things. Events are more official and less, well, pointless. It's fun to be pointless every now and then. We forget that. Kids are pointless all the time, and they love it.

Anyways, it was great to climb like a bunch of fools, listen to music and talk for a few hours and have it be totally alright. It was a great birthday.

Happy Birthday in my Tree

  3. Late Happy Birthday to you! What better way to spend a birthday than in a tree? You probably could treat yourself to a birthday movie, Avatar. Quite a few trees in that one.

  4. Now, when I was a child, I played like a child. I got in my sand box and I dug little trails with my hot wheels and I climbed the hills.

Now, that I am an adult, I play like an adult.
